Can a Scholar Be Called a Villain读书人的事那能叫反派吗

The Mc is Too Evil ... Like bro using everyone even the ones who are just living their daily lives ... bro

This is how I would describe this story in one sentence: If the MC from Fated Villain was actually about business and not just building a harem.

The MC of this novel is cold, ruthless, pragmatic, and for someone looking for an Evil MC I loved that; however, the book's not without it's flaws.

After reading up to Chapter 448 on the MTL so far I can confidently say the story is... above average.
Which isn't bad at all. If you're here for an Evil MC like me then you'll definitely find it with him going to extreme lengths to accomplish goals similar to MC's from story like 'Reverend Insanity' and 'My Journey to GodHood as a Caterpillar' entertaining.

The story is pretty standard for these types. MC gets reborn with a system, but this system is for "hunting MC's". The story starts off relatively quickly, the downside is that compared to other Cultivation stories that starts from 0 where the reader can learn the power system, there's a bit of an info dump with names that we're expected to remember going forward which can get confusing. Next there are tons of MC's, some even being references to MC's from other cultivation novels, which I won't lie, can get a bit confusing since I feel like of the MC's named are well-known in Chinese communities but even as an avid cultivation novel-reader sometimes I'd be scratching my head.

However, there are 2 things I would say to be the BIGGEST issues with the story:
1. The pacing and 2. The fighting scenes. Alot of times things feel drawn out for no good reason other than padding, which is to be expected with how alot of these authors post daily. This leads into the 2nd issue... FIGHTS. I'm not gonna lie, I skim the fights because they are THAT uninteresting. There was a time MC spent 2-3 chapters fighting against a snake. Did the snake contribute to the story? Was the snake stronger than him which put him at risk? NO.... It was just a bigger snake. So why did the fight last so long?.. Meh, beast me

Another issue with the fight scenes is that character will say names to moves with no description of said move, like... the amount of times I can hear a character say "SUPER DRAGON DIVE KICK BUTTFLIP" and having no description or clue what the move looks like is beyond me as an oversight. Mix that with the pacing, and it feels like the author is just throwing words together until he hits the word count. Which is exactly why I tend to skim fight scenes, as while I love action in stories, I find that for this story at least the process of gaining power and influence is much more entertaining rather than a fight that feels static and adds no purpose or carries any weight. Even the MC's sword forms while having descriptions don't do much in carrying weight (at least for me).

Another thing, I hope you have good memory because there are ALOT of named characters. Like... characters who shouldn't even be named. There will be side characters we see once that the author will describe their "jade-beauty" or their "heaven-sent talent" and then give us paragraphs of backstory and then we'll never see or hear about that character again... it's baffling to say the least, but I chalk this all up to pacing and the grueling requirements of daily posting.

After all this ramble I'd actually recommend this story if you enjoy Evil MC's like I do. While I had to back away from the book from some time out of... sheer boredom, I've got nothing else to read so I've decided to leave a review before stepping back into continue reading. Once I finish the series I'll give an updated review, but I'd say definitely give it a read if you're curious because despite all the nitpicks, they're just that and I enjoyed what I've read so far (for the most part). Also, I'd recommend starting on MTL probably since the terms are gonna change due to different translators, though maybe have another tab open cuz reading comments is always fun.

(dropped chapter 500+ MTL) This book has some really rough arcs, although I dont really do it it would be best to practice the dao of skipping. Fights can also be broken up over 10 - 20 chapters just to exchange a few moves and the characters appear a few chapters earlier with quick introduction and 0 relation to earlier plot, just to make up the numbers. Factions, locations etc. are also of this hollow kind. But u can still enjoy it, translation and MTL is basically the same so no need to wait for updates and there are many chapters. The C tier rating from my earlier review, at Chapter 95 honestly u can only downgrade it not upgrade but what do you expect? One annoying thing is constant perspective switching to characters which just appear one chapter ago and will never reappear.

Overall insane word padding hollow filler trash novel which deteriorates and pulls everything out of authors ass, but has ruthless and benefit oriented MC that sees human lives as nothing but stepping stones and can harm innocent people without flinching (rare MC type). Also some things are funny, some things are epic and some things are... So there is still this enjoyment.

C+ tier (I refuse to put system novel in B or higher tier, as far as system novel's go this is upper grade)

MC is isekai with classic system MC (aww i didnt win the raffle :( , wtf system why u bully me?) mentality. MC: [politics/scheming/kingdom building + cultivation with anti-protagonist system)]

Though around 100 chapters the author spins that the entire personality and plot of the novel so far was just for MC to . To be fair this was foreshadowed in earlier chapters but I thought it was very anticlimactic and boring... why should I care about any of the characters / MC / story so far from now on?

Something to note is that this novel is written in such a way, that the author *puts on anime glasses* + explanation of mystery (MC so smart). Which obviously shows writing skill of author is not top tier (as expected of system novel).

Lets see if author can make move to next realm interesting?

Btw has insane amount of wuxia and some xinxia references from other novels. If you know them junior brother begs senior brothers to impart the jade slip.
