Chapter 506: I Want Everything

“Then, we need to stop wasting time,” Cao Yang urged.

Jiang Cheng stared into Yu Yu’s eyes. “Are you sure it’s the city south?”

“Yes.” Yu Yu raised her head.

“Okay. Then, we’ll split into two groups. One group will head to the morgue to find the exact address and contact the second group by phone. The other group will depart now for the city south,” Jiang Cheng said.

“Through phone…” Cao Yang was hesitant. After all, the ghosts had tricked them using the phones before. Plus, it would be hard to tell who was human over the phone.

“It should be fine if we use our own phones,” Kui Yi explained, “We mustn’t use the tools native to this world.” Since Kui Yi said that, Cao Yang had no objections. After all, Kui Yi was the most experienced. The next issue would be how to split up the team.

The travellers had differing opinions. Or rather, the two most vital members disagreed. Both Jiang Zheng and Kui Yi wanted to go to Zhang Zhaowei’s home. And neither would back off.

Cao Yang wanted to be a peacemaker, but he didn’t know what to say. Yu Yu paced around nervously. Lin Wan ‘Er leaned on the wall, weirdly at peace.

“Mr Jiang!” Kui Yi argued, “I’ve left the hospital twice. I know more about the outside world than you do!”

“You were tricked by the ghost, and you almost died. She left three wounds on your body.” Jiang Cheng didn’t give him face.

“I’ve been to a world like this. I am more experienced. I know how to respond when facing those things!”

“You were tricked by the ghost, and you almost died. She left three wounds on your body.”

“Can you stop repeating that?!” Kui Yi was angry. Whenever Jiang Cheng mentioned his injury, it would hurt.

“You were not only tricked by the ghost but also by a human. You thought Zhao Ru was the mad nurse and didn’t notice the person hiding under the bed. If not for my boss, you would be dead already!” Jiang Cheng countered.

Kui Yi, “...” Regardless, it was impossible for Kui Yi to give up just like that. The clues at Zhang Zhaowei’s home were too impossible. They could even open the door. He would not surrender such clues to a stranger. Even though he didn’t think Jiang Cheng was an immortal person, betrayals were common in the nightmare world.

He was there with a mission. Since words wouldn’t work, he’d use fists. Kui Yi glared at Jiang Cheng coolly. From Jiang Cheng’s reaction, Kui Yi was certain that he had been in the nightmare world.

“Mr Jiang,” Kui Yi said mirthlessly. “Can I talk to you alone?” he stressed the word alone. Even if Jiang Cheng was not a newbie, Kui Yi was not scared. After all, he had the door. Through the door, he could manipulate some ghostly powers. Even though it was temporary and highly unstable, it was enough to deal with the man before him. Of course, Kui Yi didn’t plan to kill him. He just wanted to scare Jiang Cheng.

The two walked to the corner. They stood next to the elevator. The area was hidden from the rest.

After they left everyone’s sight, Kui Yi scoffed. “We don’t have the time. Let’s get to the point. I know you’re not a newbie. We both know how important this last clue is. To be honest, I don’t trust you. So… I need to go there myself. And you,” Kui Yi added, “Will stay. I need someone experienced to provide me with reliable clues.”

Even though Jiang Cheng was not that much higher than Kui Yi, he looked down on him. If Fatty were there, he would have known that Jiang Cheng was about to scam people.

“Who are you talking to?” Jiang Cheng began.

“Hah!” Kui Yi’s tone darkened. “Young man, don’t act too rashly!”

“When shall one act rashly if not when one’s young?” Jiang Cheng stared back.

“Since you’re not a newbie, you should know the industry rules. I was the one who took this job. But it’s destiny that we met.” Kui Yi grinned viciously. “I don’t care how much your employer has promised you. After we succeed, I will take half.”

This industry, the rules, the employer…

Jiang Cheng parsed the terms in his mind. Parts of his hypothesis were verified. There was a group of people who specialised in dealing with nightmares. He should call them bounty hunters for now. Kui Yi was one of them. He knew what was going on, and he entered the nightmare on purpose. No wonder he was so calm when they first arrived.

Jiang Cheng had been meaning to find out more about the nightmare world. The middle-aged man beside Xia Meng was too hard to control. This young man before him… was perfect.

When he realised Jiang Cheng was staring at him salaciously, Kui Yi frowned. “Why are you looking at me like that?”

“Why do you think I’d give you half of my payment?” Jiang Cheng asked. Jiang Cheng tried to sound professional.

Kui Yi leaned close and revealed confidently, “Because… I have a door. If you don’t agree, you’ll die.” Kui Yi smiled, “Trust me. You do not want to die because of the door.”

“You have a door…” Jiang Cheng thought about it. He saw Kui Yi’s palm light up red. He was gloating. He saw the shape of a door. However, Jiang Cheng had the same thing.

“You should understand the gap between us. I can use the power of the door to defend against the ghost temporarily… But you can’t.” Kui Yi said darkly, “Therefore, you have to follow my rules.”

Kui Yi thought the man would be cowed and surrender easily. To his surprise…

“Your door can only defend against the ghost?” Jiang Cheng’s eyes glowed. “And it’s only temporarily?!”

Considering Wu’s tactics, Jiang Cheng stood straighter, and his voice became louder.

Kui Yi, “???”

“You’re quite the amateur.” Jiang Cheng chuckled. “You should have told me sooner. I was scared for no reason.” Jiang Cheng wiped away the sweat. “Listen. The rules have changed.” Jiang Cheng pointed at Kui Yi’s head. He narrowed his eyes. “No matter how much your employer has promised you, I will take everything. In the future, I’ll take half of everything you own.” Jiang Cheng thought about it and added, “And that is before tax.”
