Chapter 991: Emperor of Humanity

The Duskbringer and Daniel moved back to Earth and looked at it.

Firestorms were ravaging the surface, and the oceans were starting to evaporate.

The entire atmosphere had been destroyed, and only powerful Extractors could survive on the surface.

Well, they could, but there was also a lot of Star Energy everywhere.

The Prephyx was still there, but it had been mixed with Star Energy.

The first thing the two of them did was to gather the survivors and bring them to Starbreaker Base.

Kiran and the Extractors in Starbreaker Base were still alive.

They had been lucky.

If the burly General's attack had landed on Starbreaker Base, it would no longer be there.

After gathering all of the survivors, they made plans for the future.

First, they had to create a plan to make Earth livable again.

To do that, they created Pure Energy machines that would artificially fill the world with a new atmosphere.

This would take a couple of decades, but after that, they would have an atmosphere again.

After planning that matter, the Duskbringer moved to space to retrieve a bunch of huge Asteroids, which he carefully moved into the two humongous craters.

While Earth was recovering, the Duskbringer and Daniel went to Mars.

Mars had its own Sun, and it was still operating on its own.

Over time, it would slowly break down since there was no one left to fix it.

The Duskbringer changed a couple of settings on the Sun with his Pure Energy, and the two of them entered.

Mars was filled with life and looked peaceful, but that wasn't actually the case.

Most of the lifeforms were minions of an Eternal, and the humans were suffering under it.

Daniel and the Duskbringer came into contact with the leaders of humanity and told them about what had happened.

Naturally, the leaders believed that they were Specters, but after a while, the Duskbringer managed to convince them.

They decided that they would suppress the Specters that were the easiest to work with and kill every other Specter.

The Sun would keep existing for a while longer so that the humans didn't all die to Star Energy.

Over the next decades, they would change humanity's genetics to allow them to survive in an environment covered in Star Energy.

They wouldn't be able to grow by using Pure Energy, but they also wouldn't die from it.

In about 70 years, they would get rid of the Sun and open up the stars.

By then, humanity on Mars would not die off.

After that, the two of them traveled to Venus.

The era there was relatively new, and there were not a lot of powerful Extractors.

The two of them dealt with almost all of the Specters and contained a couple of useful ones.

Since there was no real world government on Venus yet, the Duskbringer decided to deal with everything himself.

He changed the genetics of the humans to work just like his own genetics.

They would become beings capable of absorbing Pure Energy.

Then, they moved Kiran to Venus so that he could become Venus' leader.

In a couple of years, they would also get rid of the Sun on Venus.

With that, all three planets would have their own task.

Mars would be producing Extractors, which would produce Zephyx for the Pure Energy humans on Venus.

Venus would be reliant on Mars for their "food", while Mars would be reliant on Venus for protection and technological advancements.

When Earth recovered, it would house both kinds of humans.

A century later, all the planets came into contact and created a joined government.

Kiran switched places and went to Mars, becoming its Chancelor.

Meanwhile, Daniel went to Venus and became its Chancelor.

For now, the Duskbringer would rule over Earth, and he was named the Emperor.

He would be working with Daniel and Kiran, but the Duskbringer would be the one who had the last say.

Earth became livable again.

Venus and Mars worked together more and more closely.

While all of this was going on, Daniel, Kiran, and the Duskbringer were creating antimatter lasers all over the different moons.

They needed to be able to defend themselves from any kind of attack.

After two centuries, they finally realized the Ancient One's project.

An antimatter laser that used Pure Energy to enhance its destructive power.

The ultimate weapon.

It was impossible to create an even more powerful weapon.

This was the culmination of ultimate destruction.

400 years after the big battle, the advanced radars picked something up.

One of the Nightmen who had left the solar system had just flown by Pluto.

The Nightman had grown two levels and was in the Mid Tenth Realm.

He could probably fight Daniel and the Duskbringer evenly.

"Let me do it," Daniel said with a smile.

The Duskbringer stepped back from the console.

"You sure are strong," Daniel said with a chuckle as he locked onto the energy signature.

"But sucks to be you. I'm not fighting you."

Then, Daniel pressed the fire button.

A portal appeared in front of the Nightman, and a laser shot through it.

BOOOOOOM!

The ultimate weapon had been launched.

When the explosion vanished, the scanners could no longer sense an energy signature.

"Arrogant idiot," Daniel said with a chuckle.

"Back to business," Daniel said, looking at the Duskbringer, "Nick."

The Duskbringer nodded.

After calming down, the Duskbringer had realized something.

Yes, Nick had caused him unnecessary suffering.

But the Duskbringer believed it was the right thing to do.

Nick had just been very careful, as always.

Yes, the Duskbringer had been an innocent victim, but Nick's unjust actions had allowed humanity to break free.

If the Duskbringer hadn't had Nick's memories, he wouldn't have had so much battle experience, and he wouldn't have won the battle.

It was a necessary evil.

It was unfair, but it had produced results.

So, in the end, he had accepted his identity.

He was Nick.

His memories were of Nick.

He shared Nick's values.

Because of that, the Duskbringer changed his name.

He was Nick Dusk, and he was the Emperor of Humanity.

Ok. the last 2 phrases redeem the good ending. He is Nick Dusk that just wanted to find a reason to hate himself fpr the suffering he volutarily imposed on himself. All fellow readers I wish you a good one!

It's so baffling to imagine the Nick we knew all along is actually dead. From our POV Nick never left since Duskbringer is "Nick". award

That brings up the question, if you were to die right now and a perfect replica replaced you instantly would you be considered dead?

In the lore of this universe I believe Nick is dead. He mentioned that humans have souls and he obviously has a different soul than Duskbringer so the Nick we know is dead.

As for our world we don't know. If something like a soul exists then you would be dead, if a soul doesn't exist then you wouldn't be dead.

The start is definitely very similar but correct me if I'm wrong, I thought the new novel was supposed to be more comedy oriented.
