Chapter 86: The Entrance Exams p2

Chapter 86: The Entrance Exams p2

The crowd looked up to see Mu Zhi’an emerging from the teahouse, his figure tall and handsome.

Bai Ruoxi, however, had already left.

He noticed the gazes upon him and bowed. “I apologize for the unpleasant scene earlier. Young Master Ye has some grievances against Miss Bai. He acted out of resentment.”

“So he made up the accusation?” someone asked, their voice skeptical.

Mu Zhi’an shook his head. “Bai Ruoxi isn’t a demonic cultivator. But as for whether demonic cultivators truly exist… I can’t say for sure.”

The crowd gasped.

He was implying that there were indeed demonic cultivators in Tianxuan City.

And most believed him. After all, there had been a demonic cultivator in the city before, eventually eliminated by the major powers.

Another one wouldn’t be surprising.

He surveyed the crowd, his voice calm and steady. “Young Master Ye stopped Senior Sister from using the Aura Sight Technique. And then he admitted to slandering Miss Bai.”

“As for his reasons. I’m not sure.”

The crowd fell silent, his words echoing in their minds.

The Aura Sight Technique could reveal a person’s spiritual energy, even their lies.

Why had Ye Yu stopped Lan Mulian from using it, then admitted to slandering Bai Ruoxi?

His words, vague yet suggestive, sparked countless theories.

He bowed to them, then descended the platform.

He knew they wouldn’t believe his words completely.

But he had shifted the focus away from Bai Ruoxi.

He was Mu Zhi’an, the eldest son of the Mu family.

His words, whether true or false, would generate discussion.

Using Ye Yu to deflect attention from Bai Ruoxi, it was enough.

If this were the modern era, the headline would be: Plot Twist! Ye Yu, Who Accused Bai Ruoxi of Being a Demonic Cultivator, Is Suspected of Being One Himself?!

It would be trending in minutes.

He approached the Ye sisters.

Huang Manting was gone, having returned with her father.

After such a dramatic event, she was naturally curious about what had transpired in the pavilion.

“Are you alright, Brother Mu?” Ye Qian asked, her eyes filled with concern.

“Thanks to you two, I’m fine,” he replied with a smile.

She lowered her head, her voice filled with guilt. “I’m sorry. I couldn’t help. And my cousin, he caused you so much trouble.”

She’s so kind, blaming herself for her cousin’s actions. He shook his head. “Knowing that you two were supporting me, it gave me the courage to face Ye Yu.”

He paused, then sighed. “But it seems I won’t be able to take you to the Tide Sea Inn today.”

She nodded understandingly. “It can’t be helped.”

Going to the teahouse now would only attract unwanted attention.

The Ye family’s young master had just offended Bai Ruoxi and Mu Zhi’an. For the Ye sisters to be seen dining with him at this time… it would generate gossip.

He turned to Ye Lingxuan. “I’ll be heading back now, Lingxuan.”

She nodded, watching him as he turned to leave, noticing his weariness. She hesitated, wanting to offer words of comfort.

But her pride, her tsundere nature prevented her.

I can’t fall for his tricks. He’s not a good person.

His kindness towards Ye Qian, his attempts to win her over, it was all part of his plan.

I have to protect Qian’er. She watched him depart, her resolve hardening.

He returned to the Mu Manor and entered his study, opening his personal interface.

The pink, heart-shaped frame surrounding the words “Supporting Character” had expanded, the words themselves becoming blurry.

“Could this be connected to my destiny?”

He had been wondering about the meaning of that frame.

And now, after the destiny test, seeing the pink light emanating from the monument… he had a theory.

His actions today had surely increased Ye Lingxuan and Ye Qian’s affection for him. That was why the frame had become more vibrant.

“If it completely fills the frame. I might no longer be a supporting character. But what does this pink destiny mean?”

He had never heard of it before.

It seemed he would have to investigate further after joining the sect.

For now, he would focus on cultivating, improving his strength.

He could sense that he was nearing the fifth level of Foundation Establishment. If he spent the next two nights cultivating with Bai Ruoxi, he would surely break through.

He turned to leave, but then he noticed a paper crane flying towards the window.

He opened the window, and the crane landed on the sill.

This isn’t from Senior Sister… he thought to himself.

He had realized, after visiting Lan Mulian, that he was exchanging letters with two people: her, and someone else… whose identity remained a mystery.

But judging by their tone and handwriting, they were a woman.

And they were probably… at the Two Polarities Sect!

He didn’t open the letter. He simply put it away in his storage ring.

He would reply after joining the sect. He could follow the crane and discover their identity.

He left the study and knocked on Bai Ruoxi’s door.

She sat gracefully, strands of hair framing her beautiful face, her long neck pale and delicate, her alluring figure concealed by her conservative white dress.

The dress accentuated her aloofness, her unattainable beauty, yet it also sparked a desire within him to uncover her secrets.

She looked up at him, her eyes filled with concern. “What’s happening outside?”

He approached her, pulling her close, his voice reassuring. “Everything’s fine now.”

He leaned in, his voice a low murmur in her ear. “The entrance exams are in two days. Let’s cultivate at home for now, Ruoxi.”

She glanced at him, noticing his gaze, and understood his intentions. She blushed, lowering her eyes, her voice barely a whisper. “…Alright”

He lifted her into his arms and carried her to bed.

Two days passed quickly.

And finally, the day of the entrance exams arrived.
