Chapter 79: I’ve Obtained A Never Aging Face From The Heavens For You

Everyone was so mesmerized by the beauty of the Silver Moon Great Empress.

But right now, the only thing replaying in the Silver Moon Great Empress Changxi’s mind was that black murderous qi entering her body just now.

In her memory, she hadn’t felt anything strange at that time. She certainly hadn’t felt something enter her body.

Gu Changqing ignored the woman behind him and went into the palace.

The message the little fox left for him said that her mother was still alive.

And it was through her mother’s blood that the old golden crow had managed to detect Bai Su’s existence.

The little fox had come because of her mother, and died because of her mother.

Gu Changqing wanted to find out exactly what role the little fox’s mother played in this whole story.

“Was she the one who thought of using herself to bait the little fox?”

“Or was she forced to do that, and all of this was the Golden Crow Great Emperor’s scheme?”

Gu Changqing had no answer to that question, but he wanted to know for sure.

The little fox’s fate had already been so tragic. If even her mother betrayed her, then Gu Changqing would never let her off.

Gu Changqing walked through the entrance to the palace.

This palace was like a different world within a cave.

The cave’s paths were complicated. Between the cracks of the rock walls flowed tiny streams of lava, but after the old golden crow died, the lava seemed to have lost all vitality and had actually dried up entirely.

He expanded his divine sense to search for any traces of the little fox’s mother, as well as the body of the little fox.

Finally, beneath one of the small cave openings, he noticed her.

She was in the lower levels of this place, so he could imagine that this now dry area was once filled with unbearably hot lava.

Beside the woman was clean, white cloth. Gu Changqing could sense that beneath the white cloth lay a dry skeleton.

He slowly approached the woman, his lips trembling as he stared at the white cloth.

Outside the mirror.

As she stared at the woman in the mirror, Bai Su’s pupils constricted suddenly.

“Mother?”

These words seemed to have popped out of her mouth without any thought.

And that’s when her eyes really widened.

“How could it be Mother? How could it be!”

She muttered to herself, her expression filled with shock and disbelief.

The same face, the same fox body, the same name.

Even though all those things had turned out to be the same, Bai Su had never thought that the Bai Su in the mirror could be herself.

But now, even the mother of that little fox was the same as hers!!

She shook her head in disbelief. “No, no, it can’t be me, how could it be me?!”

“That Bai Su has already died, while I’m living well right here. How could it be me!”

“Yet…”

She fixed her eyes on the woman in the mirror. “How can anyone explain this.”

In that moment, she felt a splitting headache, as though a waterfall of memories were now flooding her mind and tearing apart an invisible seal.

Ye Chen watched all of this and felt a little disoriented too.

A million curses ran through his heart and he was getting very anxious.

“No, tell me it isn’t true, it can’t really be her, can it?”

“No, it isn’t. It definitely isn’t. That Bai Su is already dead, while this demon empress is standing well and healthy before me.”

He kept telling himself these things to comfort himself.

But when he heard the woman beside him call out “Mother” just now, he couldn’t help but feel an uneasiness welling up in his heart.

The woman was crying miserably and choking back sobs. Her soulless eyes were staring straight at the white cloth.

She seemed to sense that someone had approached her, so she lifted her head.

What met Gu Changqing’s eyes were a pair of eyes filled with complete despair. Those eyes were bloodshot.

“You’re here,” murmured the woman expressionlessly.

“You knew I was coming?” asked Gu Changqing.

The woman nodded. “Xiaowu said that after she dies, a silly boy might come to look for her. I suppose you’re the silly boy.”

She let out a sad sigh and continued speaking through tears, “This child has suffered all her life alone and it had taken her so much to finally break the bloodline curse on herself. Yet because of me, she ended up here. I should have died long ago, I should have died long ago…”

The woman was pained by her grief and cried soundlessly.

The suspicions that Gu Changqing had were burned up by her sadness. It was impossible for a mother to hide her real grief, so she had really been made use of by the Golden Crow Great Emperor.

Gu Changqing slowly squatted down and reached out to pull the white cloth away.

But the woman said, “Xiaowu said something before dying.”

“She said: ‘After I die, use a white cloth to cover my body and tell that silly boy not to pull it back, I don’t want him to see me like this. I want him to always remember me by what I looked like when I left. That way, he won’t forget me.’”

Gu Changqing’s lips trembled, his heart all choked up.

He slowly pulled the white cloth aside. Under the white cloth was a body that was covered in shriveled, old skin.

Her hair was all white, her eyes sunken. The skin on her bare bones were like the bark of an old tree.

Gu Changqing was silent. Everything they had gone through together flashed through his mind. Her gentle words, her warm face… Her voice and smile seemed to be right in front of his eyes.

But she had gone to sleep forever. Her body was icy cold and had lost its warmth a long time ago.

“Xiaowu.”

Gu Changqing was heartbroken as he continued to quietly hold this cold body in his arms.

He was filled with great sorrow and endless regret. As he stared at the woman who had once warmed his heart dead in his arms, his heart was filled with a pain that he couldn’t describe.

Hatred almost drove him insane. Gu Changqing’s voice was choked and his gaze was filled with grief.

“Why did you want a white cloth over your body? Why didn’t you want me to see what you look like?”

Gu Changqing choked back tears and continued murmuring, “To me, you’re still the same, no matter whether it’s before or now. Why would I forget you…”

The tremendous pain in his heart was mixed with an indignation and fury that could reach the sky.

Tears flowed from his eyes like blood as he sobbed miserably.

“Come!”

He suddenly let out a loud roar and a life mill appeared in the sky.

The power of Dao laws hit like an ocean, like the waves during high tide, crashing down one after another and flowing into the little fox’s body.

In that moment, Gu Changqing looked like an ancestor of the Heavenly Way, his aura terrifying.

He lifted her body with one hand and bellowed sadly, “Since you love to stay young, I will obtain a never aging face from the heavens for you!”

Countless divine beams dazzled as Gu Changqing used one arm to push through the great paths of heaven and earth, pushing that body in his arms against the flow of time toward youth.

The little fox’s body seemed to have gone back in time as black hair grew on her head, her skin became smooth and supple again and her beautiful face was restored. She now looked like she was merely sleeping.

But even though he managed to reverse the damage to her physical body, he couldn’t restore her soul.

Gu Changqing wasn’t going to let things go now. He looked up and let out another might roar.

“Again!”
