Chapter 775: There Had Once Only Been Shenxians In The World |
Dongfang Li soon returned from the secret vault, carrying the materials.
It was an extremely ancient text, at least a thousand years old.
Clearly restored, its pages had been separated and preserved in a box.
At a glance, Meng Anwen could tell it predated even the founding of the Shenxia Empire.
There was a missing gap in history before the empire’s founding, and only the imperial family retained fragments of records from that time.
Dongfang Li said, “This writing is very old, but it resembles modern Shenxia script.”
“According to the records, our land once experienced a world-shaking war.”
“As a result, historical records were broken and incomplete.”
Everyone present had heard legends of that great war.
Others dismissed it as myth.
Yet the imperial family possessed proof—fragmentary, but real.
Dongfang Li continued, “According to the records, one side of the great war was an alliance between the humans and the Gods.”
Shock spread through the room.
Ning Tairan’s lips twitched, “Then the other side? Was it the Abyss Demons? The Dragonkind?”
Dongfang Li shook his head, “No idea. The text is too damaged, and this part is missing.”
Ning Tairan sighed. It was inevitable, given how ancient it was.
Meng Anwen, however, had already formed a guess: invaders from the world beyond. It was likely the same force causing trouble now.
Ning Tairan asked, “Does any of this relate to our current situation?”
Dongfang Li replied, “I’ve long been obsessed with ancient history. After comparing various records, I reached a conclusion: in that time, the human race referred only to us Shenxians. There were no blonde-haired, blue-eyed people.”
The room fell silent in shock.
Ye Hao spoke in a low voice, “I’ve heard similar claims. And the saying ‘those not of our kind are bound to have different hearts’ has been left by our ancestors. There must be a reason.”
Ning Tairan frowned, “If only we Shenxians are considered human… then where did the foreigners come from?”
Dongfang Li shook his head. He had no answer.
After a moment, Meng Anwen spoke, “They likely came from the deep layer.”
“You’ve all been there. There are many creatures we’ve never seen, completely different from anything in our world.”
“Some of them are even humanoid.”
He had almost said they came from the world beyond but ultimately chose the deep layer, a more acceptable explanation.
Ning Tairan’s expression grew complicated, “You mean… they’re mongrel?”
Medicine God Shu slapped his thigh, “That would explain everything!”
Dongfang Li nodded, “It would also explain why only our people can enter Shenxia City. Not people from other forces, not Abyss Demons, not Dragonkind. To the city, we Shenxians may be the only true human lineage.”
Medicine God Shu added, “In my medical experiments, I’ve compared Shenxia blood with that of other nations. There’s a clear difference.”
“Their blood contains additional elements—mixed and chaotic. Ours is pure and clean.”
“Even with identical skills, we Shenxians can achieve stronger results. Medicines are more effective on us as well.”
As the discussion continued, a consensus quickly formed.
Only the Shenxians could be considered the true, orthodox human race.
The bloodline of those from other nations had been tainted, contaminated with impurities.
They were essentially a different race.
…
Antares let out a chuckle, “Sharp, aren’t you? You caught on fast.”
“Caught on to what?” Lin Moyu’s voice rang abruptly.
Antares looked over and saw that Lin Moyu had finally awakened.
His law comprehension had lasted over a year. A faint law aura still lingered around him, proof of significant gains.
“Something’s happened to your race.” Antares said.
Lin Moyu’s brow twitched, “What is it?”
Antares explained, “A race called the Bloodkind planted seeds within humanity over a thousand years ago. Now they’ve begun to act.”
The Bloodkind? That didn’t sound like anything good.
“Over a thousand years ago… Whas it right after the end of the great war? When the Dragonkind and the Abyss Demons appeared?”
Antares nodded, “More or less. In fact, they arrived earlier than the Dragonkind and the Demons, but used a different approach.”
With the fate of humanity at stake, Lin Moyu didn’t have the patience for word games, “Tell me everything. In detail.”
At his insistence, Antares laid it all out.
Only then did Lin Moyu learn the truth: aside from the Shenxians, all other people had been engineered by the Bloodkind.
The Bloodkind had taken the bloodlines of Shenxia powerhouses, combined them with other bloodlines, and created entirely new human lineages.
In essence, it was similar to the Dragon Race’s mongrel Dragons.
These people had multiplied and evolved into various lineages over generations.
Yet no matter how they changed, the Bloodkind’s mark remained buried deep within their blood, a mark that made them slaves and pawns.
While these people lived in the Human World, the Bloodkind stayed in the deep layer.
Under the protection of the world will, the Bloodkind were unable to control them.
But now things had changed.
Humanity’s invasion of the Dragonkind World, a fragment world located closer to the deep layer, had exposed their presence to the Bloodkind.
And the pawns, dormant for a thousand years, awakened.
Lin Moyu’s voice turned heavy, “So the Bloodkind want to take this world.”
Antares nodded, “Same goal as the Dragonkind and the Abyss Demons.”
To seize a world, one had to destroy its will. And the simplest way to do that was to wipe out its native creatures.
Among the native creatures, the humans were the strongest. Eliminate them, and the rest would fall easily.
“The Dragonkind tried brute force and failed. The Bloodkind chose something subtler—rot from within.”
Antares chuckled, “Will you step in?”
Lin Moyu now stood above every human powerhouse. With his undead army, he could resolve the crisis quickly.
After a moment’s thought, he shook his head, “No. This isn’t a disaster but a blessing in disguise.”
“Oh?” Antares was surprised.
Lin Moyu continued, “They’re only Bloodkind pawns. My teachers can handle it. There will be losses, but the humans need tempering. A blade doesn’t sharpen itself without friction.”
“And the blade we forge can’t be meant only for the Dragonkind or the Demons; it must be ready for anything.”
“If we ever step into the greater world, what we endure now may be what keeps us alive.”
Antares smiled. Lin Moyu valued humanity, but wouldn’t coddle it.
True strength had to be earned.
“In that case, let’s just watch the show.”
Lin Moyu nodded, “Mm. I’ll go sort out my skills first.”
