I call bullshit on MC being this level of unambitious yet studying to become a doctor. I call bullshit on him being a normal person to begin.

I'm to believe that a child grew up with time stop abilities that have no limits besides being unable to move and taking 0.02 seconds to activate didn't abuse this during playing or even during his chuuni stage or for anything else significant besides studies? I say this because he has no idea how time stop would affect physical performance at the start of the novel.

Well adjusted person? If anything, without adult guidance he may end up being a big procrastinator, which it is implied he does when it mentions him studying very close to exams.

But unless he has godly self discipline, that procrastination would also expand to other parts of his life that time stops can't help with. But if he had that level of self discipline, he shouldn't be procrastinating to begin. So MC should realistically either use his ability for his maximum profit or become a bum.

Yes, the author's premise is that having time stop from childhood wouldn't severely warp a personality beyond that of a normal person. We have no answer to how often and how long he was using this ability for during development.

But hey, he has a happy family and is not a murder hobo so no need to consider the ramifications. Would have been better off giving him the ability when the tower appears.

Daoist Inkdrunkwanderer's review — Climbing the Tower with Time-Stop Ability

This novel hooked me almost immediately.
What initially sets it apart from the endless sea of tower-climbing stories isn't the time-stop ability—it's how seriously the story treats the world's reaction to the tower's arrival. Most novels skip the chaos and start years later when hunters, players, and towers have already become part of everyday life. Here, we actually witness governments, organizations, and ordinary people trying to make sense of a world that suddenly changed overnight. sigma

The protagonist is another pleasant surprise. He's not a ruthless edgelord or a chosen one convinced of his own greatness. He feels like a normal person forced into an impossible situation, and his attempts to navigate it make him easy to root for. His sense of morality is refreshing as well. He's fundamentally a good person without becoming naïve or frustratingly righteous. clap

The early chapters are genuinely excellent. The stakes feel enormous, the atmosphere is tense, and the protagonist's achievements feel meaningful because the entire world is watching. The author does a fantastic job building anticipation and creating those "aura farming" moments where a single accomplishment feels larger than life.

Unfortunately, as the story progresses, some familiar tower-novel issues begin to emerge. pressure

The biggest problem is the side cast. Outside of a handful of recurring characters, most people exist primarily to react to the protagonist. Many feel more like archetypes than fully realized individuals. As the MC's power grows, it becomes increasingly difficult for anyone around him to remain relevant. The story acknowledges this problem but never fully solves it.

The second issue is power scaling. The protagonist's growth starts out exciting, but eventually accelerates to the point where much of the tension begins to evaporate. His time-stop ability is already extremely powerful, and when combined with the rewards, advantages, and opportunities he receives, the gap between him and everyone else widens rapidly. Challenges begin to feel designed specifically for him rather than existing naturally within the world.

As this happens, the novel slowly loses some of what made it special. The careful exploration of society's response to the tower gives way to a more familiar formula of climbing floors, gaining power, and astonishing spectators. It's still entertaining, but it starts to resemble many of the stories it initially distinguished itself from. cry

Overall, I'd still recommend it. The opening is one of the more interesting takes on the tower genre I've read in recent years, and the protagonist is genuinely likable. Just be aware that the further it goes, the more it drifts toward becoming a conventional overpowered tower-climbing power fantasy.

A very strong start. A good story. Not quite as unique at Chapter 200 as it was at Chapter 30. meme_11

What makes a story special is not how high it climbs,
but what it leaves behind on the way up.

      The legend is back joy

How was it? While generic, I found the fights and combat system to be great. I would personally recommend this as a pallet cleanser.

    It's a shitty generic novel
    Read all 92 chapter
Most of the stuff just get repeated
    Clear floor>Everyone reacts>a bit of face slapping>repeat
Mc gets everything handed to him
It didn't feel like he worked hard to recieve those things
Like he almost dies every floor but let's be honest the author does that to make it dramatic with no actual emotion in it
Characters are like cardboard, mc himself is very robotic and other characters feel kinda retarded
Not once do we see his families name appear
They are just called father mother sister
Mc have no friend or any significant characters that do appear in the novel
    Everything revolves around the mc
Everyone else is just there existing with no significance
They just glaze the shit out of the mc

The two things that are good with this novel is progression and combat
    The ability usage is good
Progression and skills are intresting but there is a negative about the skills
He gains too many skills but just use a few
It would be better if you could gain skill with hardwork
    Like work for them
Like swordsmanship actually increases the more you train or leap that he got actually was gained when he was exercising or the physical enhancement skill he got that I forgot the name would actually be gained when he overexerted himself and many more
Overall skill gain could be better and more intresting rather than getting handed a skill after completing
    And casting spell is rigid
    Spells strictly follow their description
Feels more like a game rather than real magic, maybe it was meant to be like that
But if we could actually manipulate a bit like making magic ball smaller but faster
There are other skill where you can decide the output but it's still very rigid

Overall the combat is good and progression is alright
    World building is dogshit
    Character depth is dogshit
Character interaction is almost non existent

Really below average novel that had good potential
    Don't read it
My mind has become 1 dimensional after reading this just like the characters in this novel

While I can understand your rating, I disagree. I have also read all chapters and enjoyed the whole thing.

Unlike most other novels, the public reactions here are kinda funny. It’s not limited to Korean humor and references, so it’s not as terrible as those Streaming novels.

The combat and skills are genuinely great. His usage isn’t very unique, but he makes the best possible choice in all situations, which is rare. Unlike elsewhere, you can predict his choices and there is no screaming at the screen, because he picked a vastly inferior option.

On the family point your are not being fully truthful. Sure, they aren’t very relevant, but they do have interactions. Especially with his sister, who’s name comes up relatively often. The dad has had like 2 funny interactions, but I do agree they are bland.

My conclusion would be, an above average fun read. Though I admit it’s because I was looking for some light engaging entertainment. It’s short, so why not read it if you have the time.
