A solid A-rank novel, it's a detailed description of Hollywood's inside working and film production. One thing I like about the mc is his cautious nature, he never puts himself or his carreer in harms way. He is a scheming fox and a pretty good manipulator. The way he steers situations from the background is simply thrilling. He is a playboy through and through tho i would've loved to see some of his conquests turn into something more than casual flings, guess I'm biased so you can ignore the harem tag. The plot is on point and never deviates from the theme the author introduced in the synopsis-a man who's desire is to stand at the top of Hollywood.

Very enjoyable read. The MC is a playboy, through and through. He is not particularly good at acting. However, he only chooses projects that are destined to succeed, which gradually earns him a reputation in Hollywood as the man who never picks a failing project.

His acting skills do not improve significantly, yet he still rises to become a major star in Hollywood. That said, his journey is far from easy, as he constantly faces rivals on set and becomes entangled in various schemes and power struggles.

Is the mc still racist towards black people by the end? I temporarily stopped around chapter 200 after losing interest but I do remember one of the things that pissed me off the most was the mc/author’s racism towards black people and Africans. Saying stuff like black people only got into Hollywood because of inclusivity, especially after he stole
. There might be some truth in the inclusivity of black people in Hollywood, I wouldn’t know for sure, but it’s absolute nonsense if the author believes there aren’t a lot of good black actors. There might also be racism in Hollywood but the author is also racist for the narrative up to what I read. It’s usually Chinese people suffering from unrealistic racism in these novels so it’s crazy this author decided to start being racist, hypocrite really. Anyways I ranted a bit but it just came as a swerve ball to me, if it does get better please let me know, I might come back.

    Not bad—honestly, pretty great. A solid 4/5.

The story kicks off with the MC nearly getting roped into doing porn, but he manages to bail just in time and escape to Hollywood. 😁

The pacing is slow, but not dragging. It’s basically about a guy from Mexico (with a Chinese soul) slowly clawing his way up the ladder of fame—climbing like a literal alpinist.

The plot rhythm goes something like this: slow burn, slow burn, tension builds... and then BOOM, a huge leap or a crisis hits. This cycle happens maybe 4 times or more throughout the novel.

Each time, the scale shifts. You get a real sense of accomplishment and watch the MC evolve from an average Joe into a man who only cares about himself, his fame, show biz, and his girlfriends. That’s it.

The MC is just a regular guy. Even though he's a transmigrator, he doesn't know Hollywood inside out—he knows about as much as any average foreigner. Maybe a bit more just because the author did their research. He starts from scratch. He only knows the big broad strokes, like Marvel = money, Depp’s wife = a b*tch, Tom Cruise’s cult = evil, etc. It’s all fragmentary info. He often only remembers the obvious stuff when he runs straight into it.

Because of that, there's no crazy "god-mode" future planning since he simply doesn't know enough.
The characters feel alive. They can actually sway your real-life opinion of people. Like, I automatically label Christina Aguilera a "bitch" now whenever I hear her name. Same with Spike Lee—seeing the toxic environment of his inner circle really soured my impression of him, even though I don't know him personally.

There isn't really a harem. The MC is a playboy in the sense that he switches girlfriends often, but he’s rarely with two girls at the same time—at least not that I recall. Maybe a secret mistress here or there. Most of the women are connected to his work or drawn to his fame.
And don't worry, he has a great female agent who never falls for the MC's charms. Right to the very end, she just treats him as a tool to make money. It’s refreshing to see characters like that.

The MC has friends too, and he actually tries to help them out whenever he can.

There's almost no nationalism. Around the second arc (chapters 400-600), he goes to China to promote a movie, but it's not presented as some "china numba one" propaganda—it’s just a business trip. He speaks fluent Chinese there, gets popular, and is back in Hollywood 5 chapters later. That’s it. No other real mentions of China, aside from occasional characters who actually work in Hollywood.

The MC has no family. There was even a funny bit where someone tried to claim to be his mom once he got famous. 😁

What else? It’s very easy to immerse yourself in the story. You’ll find yourself smiling without realizing it, or getting anxious when you know a crisis is looming. The author writes well.

Of all this author’s works, this is my favorite. It really fulfills that "I wish I could be a Hollywood star" fantasy.

Nice review, I was about to ask you about the Chinese aspect since most celebrity type novels have nationalism but it sounds good. I have some questions though. What about the aspect with how he’s Chinese in a Mexican body. Does he just act like a Chinese person and eat Chinese food but look Mexican? No problem with that, it’s just I’ve never seen this type of mc before. Also you mentioned some real life characters, are they accurate? Or just based on the authors imagination

What exactly are you interested in?

I kind of already mentioned that there is an arc about China, 10-30 chapters long. And you can safely skip this arch, because there is a boring discussion of cases, acquaintance, and so on. After that, China is no longer mentioned, only in the box office of films.

Yes, the main character has almost no chinese "labels" except for "spicy food". He's trying to act like the Romans in Rome, and it's not a bad thing.

Yes, the author made up all the unreal events, and put a lot of labels on the characters.

Of course, I could be wrong, because I read this novel 3 years ago in mtlnovel

Yes. It is quite normal to have positive or negative attitudes towards the characters of a movie, book, or TV series.

So why can't you turn up your nose at discrimination, even if it's made up by the author? 😂

As for "the world is going to hell," I would argue, because reading light novels = complete degradation of the brain, because all you get is a portion of simplified shit for a little entertainment. The very "Ideocracy 2005". 😁
