    If you are at least superficially familiar with the Naruto universe, then you will notice that the MC of this novel is strikingly similar to the slippery snake Orochimaru. He is just as ruthless,selfish, difficult to kill, conducts experiments on humans, all his techniques are tied to poison and snakes, he mostly fights himself, and his pets act as support, his main goal is to reach the top of power and gain immortality. The novel itself is not bad, the pace is just as fast. as I understand it, readers have lost interest in the book and the author is going to give it up, so you might think that it's not worth starting to read. But I would divide the novel into 2 volumes. Volume 1 (1-542 chapters) and 2 (543+). Where the main storyline ends in volume 1 and a new one begins in volume 2. Therefore, if you are interested, you can just read volume 1. It will deservedly take a silver place in my collection among other novels.

    Just finished catching up to chapter 562 from the mtl. Like others have said, it’s pretty good. The mtl is also pretty much the same level as the translation other than the different names for the snakes he has, but if you just read the mtl from the start that won’t be an issue. One thing I want to say is that while this is technically a beast taming novel, it’s more centered around the mc. The strength of the mc’s beasts all gather on him, so he is the central fighter and as time goes on we rarely see his strongest beasts fight. They still fight sometimes but only when it’s not necessary for the mc to fight. Of course we still see the beasts strength grow as that helps the mc also grow stronger but you can think of the beasts as auxiliary strength. But it’s still very interesting in my opinion and only gets better as time goes on. Around chapter 100-200 there are occasional periods where it’s a little boring but when the mc starts building his own faction and he becomes more well known and stops hiding in the shadows, the story only gets better. The only potential problem here is that the author might not finish the story, a few days ago I even thought he wouldn’t but it looks like he hasn’t given up yet as he still seems to be updating recently. We can only hope. But with 563 current chapters which are all decently long, it’s still a good read

If you feel the update is too slow, you can let the book wait.】The author said this in the latest chapter though. Looks like the author has quite the attitude and won’t be updating at a fast pace but it looks like he won’t be dropping this book at least. If others are unsure just let the book stack chapters, I’ll add onto this comment for future developments

          I found mtl chapters up to 564 at wtr lab, with translation a little worse than the translation here. As for raw chapters, I don’t have much experience so I could only find fanqienovel that has up to date chapters but it looks like those chapters are for paid users I think

        And I think that’s around when the author started losing interest in the novel. I’m still caught up at chapter 571 since I like the concept but I think the novel is almost done by the speed he’s increasing his strength now. We’ll have to see

    I've read all the chapters so far, and I'll say this: I see no point in reading this book for the simple reason that the author abandoned it.

    In terms of plot, characters, etc., it's readable and generally not bad. I'd give it a 3/5, but then again, everyone has their own tastes and it won't be for everyone. Even if this book were a 10/10, since the author is a piece of trash, there's no point in reading it.

    Since the book wasn't popular enough by the author's standards, he decided to abandon it. For reference, the author has four books, including this one, and none of them are finished.

        I was equally shocked when the author wrote after the chapter, "My book scores this month are much lower than last month. I'll continue writing this month. If the book's popularity doesn't improve next month, I'll write a new book."
        The author left this under one of the 500+ chapters, approximately 520-535.

        Further, in chapter 558, the person who either translates or publishes his content wrote that this book can either be bookmarked as "abandoned" in the hopes that the author will return someday, or simply removed from bookmarks and forgotten about. He also wrote that this is fairly common for this author and that nothing should surprise him.

        The last update on the Chinese sites was two months ago. Given all of the above, I can confirm that there's a 99% chance the author has abandoned this book.
        I was equally upset; the entire book could have been written in about 200 chapters.

            I dropped by today to check it out and was shocked to see that after two months, there was a chapter update, reaching chapter 561.

            I'm not sure if the author is simply writing very slowly and will update chapters at a rate of one chapter every few months. Maybe they're simply publishing a chapter they've already written and won't be writing any more, or something else entirely.

            In any case, the chapter was released today, so for now it's worth just bookmarking it and keeping an eye on the book's updates.

            I hope the author continues writing the book. At the very least, they'll give me some kind of ending.

                Normally, I'd think the same thing. I've been reading novels for 10 years and understand how it works. But if you read what I wrote above, you know the author himself said he was going to abandon the book if it didn't regain its popularity within the next month. When, on top of that, there haven't been any updates for several months, the conclusion was obvious.

                I hope the author finishes the book. Although I wouldn't call it excellent, I liked it and would like to finish it.
