I read a decent amount of this novel, to around the mid 500's, and it's not a bad novel, but it's not great either. It's not MTL and the grammar/spelling/syntax is good, so it's not annoying to read. However, there is a lot of filler in just about every chapter, so if you're not reading 20+ chapters in a row, the story feels like it is barely progressing. Also the MC is 13 or 14 years old if I remember correctly, but he acts and speaks as if he's a grown adult with life experiences that gave him knowledge and wisdom, which doesn't really make any sense because he wasn't isekei'd and he's not reborn, or a transmigrator. The romance between him and his girlfriend is very tame, but still feels awkward because they're both barely teenagers. The MC and his beasts communicate very regularly and each beast has their own personality, so that's a good point about the novel and the action scenes are decent as well. If the author would limit how much unnecessary filler he puts in each chapter, I would bump the novel to above average.

do hate me I'm caught up but the title imply he's literally the first of his class, like in the hundreds to possibly thousands of millenniums and no one has been a beast master or is he the first immortal to reach that level

    Review at Ch. 1391

    Preference:
If you like fast pacing and an MC who solves problems by simply existing, congratulations—you’re in the right place. If your soul thirsts for speed, spectacle, and an MC who can bulldoze reality by breathing, this novel shall deliver. Truly, it is the perfect read for those who want zero waiting and maximum overpowered energy.

    World Building:
The world has glorious potential—truly, the kind that could make scholars weep. And yet, descriptions appear as often as legendary dragons in retirement homes. Most scenes feel like the characters are performing on an empty stage with a narrator whispering, “Just imagine it, okay?” You’ll find yourself constructing entire mountains, kingdoms, and forests with nothing but hope and personal imagination.

    MC Character:
Enter Karl. Gentle. OP. Impossibly kind. A man so idealistic that angels would ask him to calm down. He cannot lie, cannot scheme, and cannot keep a secret—this man leaks information like a faulty water jug. He’s less a character and more a shining beam of benevolence wrapped in plot armour. Relatable? Not in the slightest. Entertaining? Absolutely—like watching a golden retriever wield god-tier powers

    Side Characters:
Ah, yes, the entourage. These brave souls accompany Karl everywhere—not because of destiny, but because Karl accidentally power-levels anyone who stands within a three-meter radius. Their personalities are so similar, you could replace them mid-scene and the universe wouldn’t blink. Dialogues sound like they were all written during the same lunch break. And the names? So simple you’ll wonder if the author had a strict allergy to extra syllables.

    Beasts:
The stage lights shine brightest on Hawk, Rae, Thor, Remi, and Cara—the founding members of the Beastly Avengers. Hawk and Cara rise like legends; Rae occasionally gets a moment to whisper, “I exist”; Thor is the cute mascot who could not intimidate a pillow. After that, new beasts appear only to vanish backstage forever. Their powers? Rarely used. Their purpose? Decoration. Their fate? Eternal cameo roles.

    Romance:
The romance enters the story the way a surprise guest crashes a wedding—loud, sudden, and confusing. Pairings appear out of nowhere, with almost no buildup. Chemistry? Hardly detectable. You can practically hear the author saying, “And then… they’re in love. Moving on!” The romance scenes read less like emotional moments and more like someone announcing the news in a weekly bulletin.

    Conclusion:
7/10. Read it when you’re bored—it won’t change your life, but it also won’t damage it. Pleasant enough to pass the time without questioning your decisions. A chaotic but charming journey. Read it when your heart seeks entertainment, distraction, or mild emotional turbulence.

I'm currently on the last chapter released (1135), and this is my review so far. This is a simple novel, has a pleasant slice-of-life feel, is curiously whealthy (meaning it doesn't have many elements like arrogant young masters), and is politically stable (meaning the politics within the story). It's not perfect, far from it, but it's good. I'd rate it a 7-7.5/10. I hope this review can be useful to you, fellow Daoists.

Reading comments, it really got me baffled. Is the novel with face slapping, and dramatic shit all that matters? There are genres, and it's obviously not the huge rising from ashes to top of the cosmos ffs.

I really liked that the novel didn't share its usual mah fist bigger, mah words rules. It showed the order while also displaying the lurking politics and power play at the background—like Dana's idol career, academy top brass steering the mission control, the parties after promotion, exile etc. I really like how the story tried to take different route than all being dramatic.

That said, the novel isn't without its fair share of problem, like too wordy, no deep actualisation of potentioally strong skills and beasts kinda losing their place in latest chapters. However neither of them includes the problem as mentioned. If you read expecting the novel to follow the story of a beast tamer in a world resembling our in law and order, except with the flavour of power etc blended in Slice of life genre—but not deep enough to make it borefest—you're pretty much set.

I'm interested in the story, but the fact that every fart is given a f#cking chapter is so annoying.
