Xu Qing lives in a world where the weak are the prey of the strong, and every day is a fight to survive.

The aura of a god has polluted the entire world, including the resources necessary to practice cultivation. As a result, cultivators risk mutation and death when they try to become more powerful.

Xu Qing’s goals are simple: he wants to survive, and he wants to find his lost family. He lives in brutal, ruthless, and chaotic circumstances, but he encounters good people that become his close friends.

He is not crafty and cowardly like Bai Xiaochun. He is not clever and greedy like Meng Hao.

He is his own person, and if you want to find out what he’s like… you’ll have to start reading!

***

Official blurb translated from Chinese:

All living beings in heaven and earth are guests in a tavern. The timescape is also an old customer.

The difference between life and death is like the difference between dreaming and waking. Even years of study might not reveal the truth of such complex transformations.

What awaits on the other side of life and death? What surpasses heaven and earth? What lies beyond the timescape?

Er Gen, the author of Renegade Immortal, Pursuit of Truth, I Shall Seal the Heavens, A Will Eternal, and A World Worth Protecting, brings you his sixth novel Beyond the Timescape. Collapse

To be honest, this work gave me hope at the beginning, but in the end it turned out to be just regular trash. I read up to chapter 178 and collected all the clichés of a Chinese cultivation work, which usually includes an alpha male, a handsome, tall, and well-built character, a lot of secrets, an absurd amount of power for his level, concealing his power, and girls chasing after him. All of this is accompanied by a complete lack of danger, as you always know that nothing bad will happen in such works. I started reading this work right after Reverend Insanity.I don't even want to mention that a 2-meter-tall man is fighting 900-meter-tall monsters with a 1-2-meter-long piece of iron, but I'll mention it anyway. There are still a lot of moments where the work and the character as a whole disappoint, why does he think that everyone in the world is against him? I understand that the author may be trying to point out his nature and childhood by making him so distrustful, but my God, if you're making a character smart, at least let them use their brains occasionally. If he showed potential, he would have much fewer enemies, the sect wouldn't let others touch their pearl, even I understand that, and there would be much more privilege. The next point is about the brain of other characters, a person from level 7 qi made a foundation in a year or two and quickly moved to the first flame, isn't it suspicious? But as I said, it's all just garbage. There's no logic, no disasters, and you might as well throw the author's work in the trash and keep only two chapters that briefly describe the hero's bravery, his rapid progress, his stealth, and his eventual rank.I'm completely annoyed by the fact that people with insecurities put such shitty work out there for everyone to see, because a normal writer would obviously know that it's complete nonsense. Perhaps I'm being too harsh about the insecurities, but looking at this work, I can only see two possible scenarios in the author's mind: a) they completely disregard the quality and the created world, and simply create a mediocre piece of work. b) they are an idiot.

    Fellow Daoist's,

Today, I have stepped beyond the final chapter.
At Chapter 1354, the grand saga draws its curtain —
and the Dao of Beyond the Timescape comes to completion.

Along the journey, I have seen countless novels fall into mediocrity,
their paths cluttered with empty repetitions,
spirit lost in endless filler like cultivators trapped
in a bottleneck they can never break.

Many works stretch on like dying candles,
    their light flickering,
their flame suffocating beneath their own excess.

    But Er Gen…
His writing is like a supreme heavenly treasure,
forged in the fires of inspiration.
Even his longest scripture, I Shall Seal the Heavens,
bears no idle words, no wasted breath —
each chapter a step along the immortal path,
each line a stroke carved upon the heavens.

And now, Outside of Time — 光阴之外 —
    has reached its end.

When I read the final chapter,
my heart trembled as if struck by divine thunder.
The silence that followed was like standing alone
at the peak of a sacred mountain,
the world quiet beneath my feet,
all of time unfolding before my eyes.

    That ending…
did not close a story —
    it opened a universe.

I found myself unable to speak, unable to move,
only staring into the boundless void,
where past and future meet in a single breath.

Some tales end like candles burning out.
But this one ends like an immortal ascension.

    It does not leave —
    it lingers.

I wanted to ask something about the harem genre. Is he going to have multiple wives or they're just around (like demonic emperor in which he ended up with one even though it has harem genre as tag)
And what's the the difference between Outside of Time and Beyond the Timescape cause one has harem tag and the other one doesn't.

This is an error on this site, as this novel doesn't have the "Harem" tag. MC won't have multiple wives, only one. There's no difference between Outside of Time and Beyond the Timescape; again, this is simply an error on this site.

I’m very confused, guys. Is this story and the author’s other story, which apparently finished today and is called Outside of Time, the exact same story as this one? Because Outside of Time has [Webnovel] in brackets, and this one, on the other hand, has [WuxiaWorld] next to it. Is it the same story on different platforms with slightly modified versions, or are they different stories set in the same world? I’m completely confused; it’s the first time I’ve seen something like this, so I don’t know which one to read. Help wet

I almost wanted to be condescending, but let me assume you're 12 years old.

Yes. It's the same novel just with different translations. Most prefer this one because the quality of the translation is better, but they still read Outside of Time because the translation has gone further on that one.

Oh… well, thank you very much for answering; I more or less expected that. My confusion mainly comes from the fact that a comment further down posted two chapters that should be the “same” from both versions since they’re practically the same story, and just by skimming through them I noticed there are way too many changes, which is why I got confused—since I had never seen something like this before. Haha, it hurt me a little that you assumed I was 12 years old, but still, thanks for clearing it up.

WuxiaWorld is also a lot closer in english translation to what author wanted to get across since the translator has direct contact with him works really hard to get both the meaning and phrasing across correctly. For example various poems and such are often transformed by him to actually still be poems and have still have that same meaning.

Damn, brother, I’m reading your message late — I actually started the story a week ago, but I’m reading the other version. The reason was that when I read the first chapter of both versions, I noticed that the WuxiaWorld one translated the month of March as the “third lunar month,” which made me almost instantly decide to go with the Webnovel version instead. I kind of regret not sticking with this version from the start, because there are tons of terms —like the names of places or characters— that are different from the Webnovel version, and it would take a lot to get used to them again.
I’m currently on chapter 636, I just finished arc 5. Do you think it’s still worth switching over, or should I keep reading the other version? I also noticed that the Webnovel version finished about a month ago, while this one is still updating, although from what I’ve seen, it shouldn’t be long before this version ends too.

This one will finish on January 14th. You're like getting close to getting to arriving at the halfway-ish point(even tho majority of the plot lines start or start getting pushed into the light around this time and develop in the second half) through the story basing on the chapter but Im not sure how Webnovel is pacing it's chapters. The overall chapter amount on WuxiaWorld will be somewhere around 1400, possibly 1500, but I'd personally say it would be worth to switch over, at least for me. This is Deathblade's best work on translating Er Gen's works to date in my opinion. Regarding different terms between translations, that's a tough one because even when some of them are not necessary besides cultivation levels and names of major characters and some reoccurring places, not only are they're well done, the story telling, the characters, the descriptions, basically everything is amazing so missing out on those is kinda painful. In my opinion WW Beyond the Timescape is one of the best works I've read, basically tying equal with Lord of the Mysteries and it's second book, ISSTH, RI, PoT(all er gen's previous works in the same universe excluding some I didn't like so much) Reverend Insanity, or even overcoming these novels in some aspects.

Webnovel does MTL translation while wuxiaworld use professional translators and yes it's same novel it's just the title is translated as Outside of Time by MTL in webnovel while human translator in wuxiaworld translated it as Beyond the Timescape

I recommend reading wuxiaworld or human translated version of every novel if it's available when you can't wait for new chapter then dive into MTL webnovel
