    The memories around them belong to many different beings.

    2. Why this is happening
    The person lost their body and normal mind after a catastrophic event.
    Their consciousness survived, but:

    They grab a memory and experience it as if they are that person.
    This memory shows:
    A blind woman
    A massive war
    Humanity attacking her position
    Her standing defiant even though she is about to lose
    This memory feels familiar.
    4. Second memory: Weaver
    They grab another memory and experience something very different.
    This one shows:
    Weaver, a godlike being
    A confrontation between ancient entities
    Absolute confidence and power
    This memory:
    Feels overwhelming
    Feels wrong
    Does not fit
    The being realizes this memory does not belong to them.
    5. What that means
    Their mind contains:
    Their own memories
    Memories from other beings they were once connected to
    Residual memories from Weaver
    Because their mind is damaged, these memories are mixed together.
    6. Third memory: realization
    They grab another memory of the blind woman.
    This time they recognize it:
    “This feels right. This feels like… me.”
    They understand that:
    They are the blind woman
    Not Weaver
    The blind woman survived the war but lost her physical existence
    Her consciousness is now trying to hold together
    7. What is happening right now
    Right now, in the present moment:
    The blind woman’s mind is reassembling itself
    She is pushing away memories that are not hers
    She is anchoring herself to her own experiences
    If she succeeds, she will continue to exist as herself
    If she fails, she will dissolve into the memory sea
    8. That’s it
    No secret twist.
    The being is the blind woman.
    Weaver is a foreign memory.
    The story is about not losing yourself after everything else is gone.
    That is literally what is happening.
