      Its because he is loyal to anvil. And is doing things that are most profitable for the king. He raised the king and cares about him to not make him backstabbed by a seer in the future.
      Plus he is of the first generation. He did many vile things but definitely at least half of them were for the good of humanity. I think he killed all the possible bad clans in the past

    I understand that G3 wants to give Cassie some development, she's the only one in the main court who hasn't had a real fight since she achieved transcendence. But it's hard to believe that someone as cautious and manipulative as Cassie would put herself in such a dangerous position, like fighting a killer who uses mental attacks, having the option of asking for help. G3 should probably give some reason, at the end of the fight, as to why Cassie decided to do it alone, it doesn't fit her personality.

      true. her reactions imply that she's confident in incapacitating jest even with helie's variable, but it also hints that she doesn't have any concrete plan aside from winging it and analyzing jest up close during their escapade. her memories for one, she doesn't have a suitable ensemble for a saint even when the war has been going on for months at this point and her having humanity's foremost enchanter's services. also, despite sunny being busy, she could have informed him in passing. after all, if he can't even multi task, then who can?

      To me, it seems like she didn't bring Sunny/Nephis because they're so strong. Which would you rather fight, a random saint you don't mind killing, or one of your incredibly strong allies who can solo over a dozen saints and you absolutely don't want to kill even if you could?

      I think the why is pretty clear though. She needed to subdue jest alone without the knowledge of anvil and she did just that remember jest might be the only one who knows anvil's flaws attributes and all his aspects. She needs to get into his memory like orum
